Trans Kids on Facebook-When a Therapist Raises Concerns...

When a Therapist Raises Concerns

Puberty blockers are dangerous. Lupron is a hazardous drug that should only be handled with gloves and protective clothing.

They are used off-licence in children for dysphoria and can (frequently do) cause sterility, weak bone density and growth, depression, are linked with suicidal thoughts and may damage the brain.

Jazz Jennings had to have multiple surgeries, and almost died, because their surgeon had to use a new technique (using swatches of Jazz's colon) to form the neovagina, as puberty blockers had left Jazz with a micro penis. In addition, Jazz (and undoubtedly many more) has been left with no erotic sensation and has never had an orgasm or felt sexual desire. (See more here)

So, on that hive of support on Facebook groups for the parents of self described trans kids, a woman posts about her experience.

She has taken her 11yr old daughter, who identifies as a boy, to a therapist who does not immediately affirm the child's belief in a metaphysical marvel whereby they inhabit the wrong body. Outrageously she will be wanting to see them for six months to ascertain whether it is gender dysphoria or not, and she's not even giving medication for anxiety.

This is an eleven year old girl.

What I find most disturbing is the reaction from the group, and the casual disclosures of shocking stories.

This is just a few of the responses - all condemned the therapist:

The therapist's reply:

The group is enraged.

The anecdotal examples of how it should go down begin, and they're horrifying;
¤ One child's physician allegedly pushed for a girl to take puberty blockers before her body even began to 'feminise'

Affirmation-happy, specialised doctors are recommended. There's a whole brand of smiley faced surgeons ready to ampitate breasts or endocrinologists with 'informed consent' policies.
I've often wondered how much is a cynical advertising campaign dressed up as grinning personal testimony.

A child of eleven, on blockers for two years

I'm genuinely not sure whether this is a deliberate misunderstanding/misrepresentation or pure ignorance.

The therapist isn't talking about trying to halt puberty in adulthood, she's talking about how GnHA agonists, used off licence for dysphoric youth, are dangerous and the younger one takes them the greater the risk. There are severe, persistent side effects ranging from intense joint pain, chronic fatigue, loss of sight, thromboembolism, loss of bone density and suicidal ideation;

"The FDA currently has over 25,000 adverse event reports for Lupron products including more than 1500 deaths. Reactions include suicidal thoughts, stroke, muscle atrophy and debilitating bone and joint pain"

The mother responds... and is 'disgusted' the therapist isn't already recommending medication for the dysphoria, the anxiety or general angst, as they have long term consequences.

She almost sounds like a drug addict, desperate to get a prescription of benzodiazepines

It's decided this crazy, reckless woman, with her harmful ideas of watchful waiting, should be reported

Gatekeeping an eleven year old child who is depressed and reaching for powerful, sterilizing, irreversible change through pharmaceuticals?
Sick!

This woman has a ten year old and they're all set to start! Keep watching that child and assessing for signs of puberty - it's the only way to ease their dysphoria...

Puberty Blockers dispensed to a 13 year old on the second meeting with a doctor.
Like it should be!

Another woman proudly regales the group on how her 12 yr old daughter has been on puberty blockers for two years. I mean, if he grows breasts he'll only need to have surgery to remove them...

This means her 12 yr old is now infertile.

A thirteen year old on testosterone. They are almost certainly infertile.

Eleven years old, just. Has been on blockers for over a year.

This is good because someone told the 9 or 10 yr old about the horrors of binding. Getting in early with the warnings of how they might feel in a few years is key.

Education saves lives!

A number of 'therapists who consider themselves 'trans-competent' are ready to be reached out for...

Report her. Eleven is definitely the time to talk about puberty blockers !
